Shatika Armstrong

Shatika J. Armstrong is the Parent Coordinator at Whitesburg Elementary School where she develops parenting workshops, provides information, resources, and support for families to support learning at home, an active member of her community, a wife, and mother. A native of Nashville, Tennessee and graduate of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master’s in Education Administration. Shatika currently serves on the Parent Teacher Organization Board at Legacy Elementary School.

Shatika’s drive for young people, and their success shines within her and in all aspects of her life. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, she serves as the Co-Chair of the Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (EMBODI), under their signature programs. EMBODI is an organization under the sorority that focuses on young men and encourages them to become leaders in their communities. This position is near and dear to Shatika as she is the mother of three, two of her children being young men.

Shatika is a principled advocate for equity in our public school system. Shatika’s goal is to ensure that the school board is transparent while keeping the children's success at the forefront. Her heart's desire would be to achieve unitary status on all green factors in the consent order. Shatika knows that this would be a defining step in the school system, and it is imperative that it takes place.

When she is not working in the school system and advocating for young people, she is spending time with her husband of 14 years Earlest Armstrong III, and their children Emmanuel, Elijah, and Elise. Shatika enjoys traveling with her friends and family. She also enjoys cooking and likes to call herself a connoisseur of foods of all cultures.
