Sean was responsible for communicating directly with the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Air Force.

During his time in the Air Force, Sean was a SWAT and Antiterrorism Officer overseeing projects designed to provide security for the Department of Defense Schools at his installations; giving him a unique understanding and knowledge of how to protect and defend school children.

Sean has completed 4 combat deployments which began during the culmination of Operation Desert Storm in 1994. In 2003 Sean was part of a special operations team during the capture of Iraq. In 2004, Sean was hand-selected to lead 12 Military Dog teams that were attached to Marine Corps infantry units. Sean spent 7 months attached to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, and 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines in Fallujah, Iraq. He also conducted multiple special operations which included a mission with 1st Force Recon to rescue a missing Marine. In 2005-2006, Sean was in charge of several teams dedicated to installation and U.S. embassy security.

During his deployment in 2004, Sean developed innovative tactics, techniques, and procedures to detect and identify improvised explosive devices. These techniques were credited with saving lives and Sean later wrote them into lesson plans which are still taught to this day. Sean earned praise from leadership across the services which included recognition by General James Mattis.

During his deployment in 2004, Sean was injured in combat and upon returning home, he underwent a year and a half of physical therapy. In 2010, Sean was the senior contributor and featured Veteran in the New York Times Bestseller, “War Dogs: Tales of History, Heroism and Love” written by Rebecca Frankle. Sean assisted Rebecca in the coordination of the Veterans featured in the book and provided proofreading of some material.

After retiring from the Air Force, Sean went on to work for a short time as an employee for a contractor at the Department of Energy. However, the entrepreneur bug was too strong, and Sean began his own company.

Although Sean was very successful in his company, he felt compelled to return to selfless service. It is then that Sean returned to law enforcement which brought him to Redstone Arsenal. Sean’s children have attended school in Huntsville City Schools district 5 and now in district 2.

This has given Sean a perspective of Huntsville City Schools which many do not get to experience. He understands a diversity of issues within the school district.
