Ed Packard

I am Ed Packard, a former, long-term election official in the office of the Secretary of State in Alabama. I worked with the general public, county election officials, and city election officials, to ensure they understood Alabama's election laws, administrative rules and procedures. The son of a serviceman in the United States Air Force, I lived in a variety of places but spent most of my childhood in Auburn, Alabama. I not only graduated from Auburn High School in 1986, but I also received two degrees from Auburn University: a Bachelor's of Public Administration in 1991 and a Master's of Public Administration in 1994.

After completing graduate school, I was hired by the former Center for Governmental Services, an outreach agency at Auburn University. Then, I moved into state government and election administration when I was employed by the North Carolina State Board of Elections. A year later, Alabama Secretary of State Jim Bennett recruited me to return to Alabama and work with the Elections Division in his office, where I was for over twenty-four and a half years.
