Bill Summary
Under existing law, the Department of Revenue may contract with a third party to manufacture and distribute license plates, validation decals, emblems, and registration receipt forms
This bill would allow a county licensing official to enter into a contract with a third party, upon approval of the county commission, to provide materials for print-on-demand validation decals, emblems, and registration receipt forms for license plate renewals
This bill would provide that amounts distributed to the Department of Corrections shall not be reduced by such contracts
This bill would also provide that such contracts are subject to the county's procurement provisions
Relating to motor vehicle license plates; to add Section 32-6-64.2 to the Code of Alabama 1975; to allow a county licensing official to contract with a third party, upon approval of the county commission, to provide materials for print-on-demand validation decals, emblems, and registration receipt forms; to provide that amounts distributed to the Department of Corrections shall not be reduced by such contracts; and to provide that such contracts are subject to the procurement provisions of the county.
