SB177 Alabama 2020 Session
Bill Summary
Under existing law, former public officials and public employees are prohibited from serving as a lobbyist or otherwise representing clients before the governmental body for which he or she had served or worked for a period of two years after leaving office or employment
This bill would provide that a former public employee may resume employment with that former employer during the two-year cooling off period
This bill would also provide that a former public employee may accept employment with another public employer and may represent the interests of that new public employer before his or her former public employer during the two-year cooling off period
Relating to ethics; to add Section 36-25-13.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975; to provide that, for a period of two years after leaving public office or employment, a former public employee may resume employment with his or her former employer, and a former public official or employee may represent a public employer before the governmental body where the official or employee formerly served or worked.
