Bill Summary
Sections 199 and 200 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, require the Legislature to reapportion and redistrict itself following the release of each federal decennial census
This bill would divide the state into districts for the purpose of electing members of the Alabama House of Representatives in an election or elections determined by the United States District Court
The Alabama Attorney General would be required to submit this act to the United States District Court for the purpose of seeking final resolution of Alabama Legislative Black Caucus et al. v. Alabama and Alabama Democratic Conference et al. v. Alabama
To provide for the reapportionment and redistricting of the state into districts for the purpose of electing the members of the Alabama House of Representatives at an election or elections determined by the United States District Court; to direct the Attorney General of Alabama to submit this act to the United States District Court for the purpose of seeking final resolution of Alabama Legislative Black Caucus et al. v. Alabama and Alabama Democratic Conference et al. v. Alabama; and to repeal conflicting law.
